JULY 29TH, 2010 | ELECTRIC EUROPE PRESENTS ART SHADE EXPO | HOSSEGOR, FRANCE
On Friday 30th July, the Volcom Store in Hossegor will welcome the first Electric Art Shade Expo.
What’s the Electric Art Shade Expo?
Electric Europe approached 5 French artists and proposed them to design unique pieces from different styles of our sunglasses collection.
The day of the exhibition, you will have the opportunity to see the artistic work made by Fanny Fleuraux, Bizmut, David Tchag, Feustay and Lucas Beaufort. They worked a few months customising our shades, turning them into paintings, sculptures, and more… To date, the artists are still at work and we will have about 30 pieces to show.
After the stop in Hossegor, there should be other demonstrations in France.
At the end of these exhibitions, showpieces will be put up for auction online. Collected funds will be given to an association or a charity chosen by the artists.

JULY 27TH, 2010 | OZZIE WRONG QUALIFIES FOR INNERSECTION FINAL | BYRON BAY, AUSTRALIA
Taylor Steele’s film competition Innersection has captured the attention of free surfers world wide. With a cash prize of $100,000 for the highest voted video section come finals time on December 1st.
Surfers all around the world have been working hard to create a section like no other. Electric’s Ozzie Wright traveled to Bali for what was meant to be a couple weeks surfing with friends and family, but with a constant swell and endless options of perfect waves Ozzie decided to hang in Bali and give this Innersection comp a go. With a variety of classic crafts, some amazing barrel rides and of coarse his very own tune recorded for this clip, Ozzie proves the oldest surfer to enter this competition so far has what it takes to still be one of surfing’s favorites.
JULY 24TH, 2010 | SUP MULLET RUN EVENT | WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC
Chris Curry has been one of Electric’s Surf Team Riders since day one of the company over 10yrs ago! After years of surfing professionally he’s decided to branch into Stand Up Paddle boarding and has recently started his own company called SUP (Stand Up Paddle) in Wrightsville Beach, NC doing eco paddle tours, ocean surfing, and training courses.
As with everything Chris does he excels and soon rises to the top! After several professional and amateur contest wins including a recent East Coast Championship title Chris along with other riders/companies head up one of their own events called the “Mullet Run”!
With all proceeds going to a good cause Electric was proud to help Chris in sponsoring this event raising money for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Surfers Healing Foundation known for their endless efforts with autistic children.
JULY 29TH, 2010 | ELECTRIC’S MITCH CREWS CLAIMS ASP AUSTRALASIAN JUNIOR TITLE | GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA
Electric Visual would like to send a huge congratulations to Mitch Crews who last week claimed the 2010 ASP Australasian Junior Series, the first major title of the young Gold Coast surfers budding professional career.
Crews started the 2010 season with 3 solid wins in The Chiko Pro, Oakley Pro and the Geared Pro Junior in Cronulla. Backing these wins with a series of 2nd’s and 3rd places put Mitch over 2000 points ahead of his fellow competitors.
This Championship win now entitles Mitch to a good starting position next year when he takes on the top WQS events as well as a place in this years US Open Championship at Huntington Beach California.

Since joining the Electric team just 6 months ago Craig Anderson has fast become Australia’s most exposed surfer within the Electric Oz HQ. Craig’s seen his profiled feature in all 5 surf publications, including Australia’s Surfing Life (above), has scored 3 covers and recently starred in Taylor Steel film project ‘Castles In The Sky’
It’s pretty safe to say that you’ll be seeing a whole lot more of Craig Anderson in the coming months.
JULY 11TH, 2010 | ELECTRIC’S SOL BAILEY WINS RUSTY GROMFEST | LENNOX BEACH, AUSTRALIA
An excellent day of clean offshore winds and quality waves saw Byron Bay local, Sol Bailey save his best performances for a well contested U/16 boys final, at Australia’s most prestigious junior event ‘The Rusty Gromfest’
Bailey set up his final win with an 8.75 on his opening ride, backed up with a 8.45, which was more than enough to see him take victory at this years ‘Rusty Gromfest’ “That was a fantastic final – all the boys were ripping and I knew to win I’d need two excellent rides in the final – that was what I was chasing and it worked perfectly – I’m so stoked!” said Bailey after his win.

JULY 9, 2010 | DOLLAR GENERAL 300 NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES | CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY – JOLIET, IL
Busch Brings the Heat to Chicagoland.
Kyle Busch scorched the competition by winning again in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
Despite a pit road speeding penalty that dropped Busch down in the field he blistered the 1.5 mile racetrack with his No.18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry.
“It’s fun to race in the Nationwide Series. I love it. To win as many as we won and to be successful as JGR – it’s fun every week. It’s always cool to come out here and put on a good show.”
Next up, is the July 17th Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 at Gateway International Raceway in Madison Ill. The race stars at 8 PM EST on ESPN2.
JULY 10 – 11TH, 2010 | MOSKITO TOUR PRESENTED BY ELECTRIC EUROPE | LES SABLES D’OLONNE, FRANCE
After a first stop on the Mediterranean Coast, the Moskito tour is back on the Atlantic Ocean. The tour presented by Electric, Vans, SkullCandy, FCS and Monster Energy Drink, reached Les Sables d’Olonne for the second stop.
60 kids came early on Saturday morning at Tanchet beach to warm up and get ready for the tournament. The competition started at 10am with 15 minute’s sessions. The waves were 60cm to 1m and kids could show to the judges their best surf.
Sun was more than shinning, temperature was pretty high, music was loud, and kids were happy! The first finals started at 3 pm with longer session followed by the 30 minute ‘s expression session powered by monster for kids between 14 and 18.
The surfing day stopped around 5pm with all the results, the podium and a tons of gifts from our partners for the winners!
The traditional gift through was just after the podium and the day on the beach was over by 6.30pm. The Olonna Surf Club organized a big bbq for all the competitors and their parents, with a video projection and a tombola for the last lucky winners who get a lot of presents.
Thanks to The Olonna surf Club, our partners and all the kids, the Moskito Tour in Les Sables d’Olonne was a real success! We can’t wait to come back next year.
