JULY 31ST – AUG 8TH, 2010 | ELECTRIC DOMINATES AT THE US OPEN OF SURFING | HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA
The 2010 US Open of Surfing has finally come to an end. With over 500,000 people attending, you could say there was a lot of action with surfing, skating, BMX, and many vendors showing their stuff.

ELECTRIC’s team riders surfed well, but in the end it was local talent Brett Simpson taking the $100,000 for the 2nd year in a row.

The action wasn’t exclusive to the beach as there were some great ELECTRIC signings as well. HSS and Jacks hosted these fun-filled times where anyone could meet riders like Dusty Payne, Gabe Kling, Jay Davies, Craig Anderson, Kalani Robb and several more.

If you got there early enough you received an official ELECTRIC “Open” hat along with a signed “10 Year” Poster. Some guests were even lucky enough to receive a fresh pair of ELECTRIC sunglasses, but only if you broke your own on the spot!

Inside the shop, a purchase of a pair of Electric sunglasses gave you a brand new hat. This was a great event and a killer ELECTRIC showing. See you all next year!!

SATURDAY AUGUST 7, 2010 | MALOOF MONEY CUP
PLG wins Vert yet again. The Terror of Pierre remains a force to be reckoned with as he cannot be beat. Pierre Luc Gagnon won his 2nd Maloof Money Cup title and took home $75,000 in prize money. Not a bad day at the office for PLG, the contest mad man.

Electric is super pumped for Pierre and we look forward to seeing him win again at the next Dew Tour coming up shortly. Stay tuned and continue to watch Pierre skating at his best. GO PLG!!!

A SURF BLOG BY RY CRAIKE | DAWN SLEEPERS & SUNSET CREEPERS
Well I’ve just arrived in Yamba after a huge trip over from the West. Hard to believe I was surfing 10-foot pits yesterday at the Barri and I’m now here surfing my favorite east coast beachie Turners with all the Electric peeps.

On the drive down we pulled into Byron and picked up our 37 cases of beer thanks to our friends from Carlton and Electric’s has rented us the biggest house in town straight across from the surf, so the week ahead is looking to a good one.

Woody’s just checked the swell forecast and it’s looking to be a sick week of waves down here, so pretty excited to surf my brains out with and hang with all the boys.

Well I’ve got to run as we’re off to shoot my new add with the one and only Steve Baccon. Thanks for checking out the team’s blog and pics from this week’s trip I’m sure their going to be lots of great stuff to come.

Craikey!

FRIDAY AUGUST 6, 2010 | SPRING 11 AT THE AGENDA TRADESHOW
Electric debuted Spring 11 at The Agenda Tradeshow on August 4th and 5th. This line has had a lot of hype over the past month and it did not disappoint.

The highlights of the line were the strength of the t-shirts graphics and the custom yarn dyed tank tops.

Electric will be next showing the line at the Know Show in Vancouver this week.

JULY 30TH, 2010 | ELECTRIC ART SHADE EXPO | VOLCOM STORE, HOSSEGOR, FRANCE
Hossegor was treated to a night of culture this past Friday as Electric threw their first of a series of art shows better known as the Electric Art Shade Expo

What’s the Electric Art Shade Expo?
Electric Europe approached 5 French artists and proposed them to design unique pieces from different styles of our sunglasses collection.

The night saw everything from photography, sculptures to customized shades, a total of 30 unique pieces.

The Volcom Store came out in a big way with well over 150 people showing up for the expo.
The event went late into the night with cold beer, hotdogs, appetizers and great art vibe to fuel the fire.

Big thanks go out to all the artists, Fanny Fleuraux, Bizmut, Feustay, David Tchag and Lucas Beaufort, Zeb at Desillution mag, and the Volcom Store Crew.

Keep your eyes out for the next Electric Art Shade Expo as the event is one that is surely not to be missed.

Women’s Skateboard Vert
Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins Take home the Silver Medal. Lyn-Z is one of the worlds best Women’s Vert skater and if she would have landed her Mctwist, she not only would have won but also be the first Girl to land a Mctwist in a contest run.

Moto X Best Whip
Electric’s young Australian Jarryd McNeil took home a Silver Medal doing some of the best turn downs I have ever witnessed in Best Whip. Jarryd pretty much through his bike around like it was a toy. Stay tuned for this young Moto star as we will be seeing more and more of him.

JULY 31ST, 2010 | 5TH ANNUAL D-MAN FESTIVAL | DIVE N’ SURF, REDONDO BEACH, CA
This past weekend was the 5th Annual D-Man Festival at Dive N’ Surf in Redondo Beach to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The D-Man Festival was created after Dive N’ Surf employee and long time South Bay local surfer Darren “D-Man” Marsee who passed away from Lymphoma in 2005.

This year was an absolute success, more than 1600 people attended helping raise over $25,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, blasting previous year’s numbers out of the water!

Electric’s booth was the place to be with our spray paint stencils, covering everyone that came through head to toe. You could see the volt sprayed all over people’s stomachs, backs, arms, legs, faces and even heads! Hats were also being sprayed with Electric’s Volt, along with back packs, t-shirts, and even cell phones.

Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds headlined with local bands Special C, Too Rude and Midnight Lamp rocking the place all day.

Electric wants to thank everyone for coming out this year to support such a great cause and we hope to see even more next year!
