SEPTEMBER 19, 2010 | VOLCOM VQS COOTERFISH | OUTER BANKS, NC
Big weekend in the Outer Banks with guys from all over the east coast coming out trying to get a piece of Hurricane Igor! Friday the swell filled in with 4 to 6 foot surf but unfortunately the wind did not cooperate for the contest. Instead of the winds being west as was originally forecasted it decided to go hard out of the NE making for junky conditions but still some fun 4 to 5ft choppy wedges!

We had a blast regardless throughout the day talking smack and having fun with the kids! Some corndogging with ketchup, mustard, and flour went down along with some beach clean ups for gear from Electric and Volcom. Early in the day Electric rider Nick Bland punted a huge front-side air out into the flats and was one of the only airs we saw throughout the day earning him the win for the Electric Volt throw walking with an extra $100 bucks!

Early afternoon it got really fun with the higher tide making for some really fun finals! At the end of the day Electric had 3 wins and 5 finalist! In the grom division we had Electric rider Dylan Mincher took 3rd place getting beat out by Quentin Turke for 2nd and Electric rider Daniel Glenn taking the win all the way from New Smyrna, FL! Daniel ripped the entire contest winning every heat through the final! Our Electric ladies were ripping as well taking both 1st and 2nd places!! Wilmington, NC’s Darsha Pigford took 2nd place getting beat out by Electric teammate and hometown chica Kim Diggs!

The pro final was funny as hell with guest announcing by Alex Grey but hard as hell to judge with the nonstop action going down! I’m not sure which was more fun? Local hero Jesse Hines ended up taking the win by a hair sitting a bit north waiting for the bomb lefts taking out VB’s Lucas Rogers and becoming $2000 richer! Following up in 3rd was fellow local hero Noah Snyder, 4th place went to Electric rider Mark Yonkers out Wrightsville Beach, NC and last but not least 5th place went to local boy contest standout Seth Barrick!
All the boys and girls came out to get creepy for the after party at Goombays with free food and beer compliments of Volcom! Good time had by all!!!! Till next time!

SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 | 7TH ANNUAL HOT DAWGS & HAND RAILS | BIG BEAR MTN, CA
The 7th Annual Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails Pro Invitational Rail Jam went down at Bear Mtn this past weekend and the competition was incredible. With over 7,000 people in attendance, 110 tons of snow, $15,000 in cash prizes, and tons of free games and giveaways makes this So Cal’s biggest pre-season party for the 2010-2011 snowboard season.

Electric came out in full force throwing out goggles to those lucky enough to answer questions from our very own Jess Kimura. And for those who couldn’t answer correctly definitely got hooked up with stickers and Volt stamps anywhere we could put them.

One brave kid even tackled the crazy product hungry crowd by cruising around promoting Electric in an empty box covered in Electric stickers just to win free Electric product of his choice. Big props to that kid!!

After a long hot day on the hill the judges made their decisions and Electric’s Jess Kimura lands the $1,000 Red Bull Best Trick and Johnny Lazz takes 3rd Place. Thanks to all that came out and see you on the hill this season.

A SURF BLOG BY MATT HOY | DAWN SLEEPERS & SUNSET CREEPERS
Tomorrow is our last day in Yamba and the waves are going to be the best we’ve seen this week. A little south swell just arrived this afternoon with my good friend The Law.

Being here this week has been farking insane, we’ve been eating like Kings, drinking at Australia’s best pub and surfing everyday rain, hail or shine. The Law and I had a really fun surf this afternoon together on my old single fin and plan to hit Angourie point in the morning for our last surf here.

I also got to surf my first board shaped by myself yesterday. Went pretty good and like most surf’s you have I got some fun waves on it and then some bad ones too. It mainly got me amped to shape another more when I get home, so look out for Hoy Shapes.

So hope you have all enjoyed our pics and make sure you look for our trip in this month Tracks. We will also have a sick team movie coming out on the cover of Tracks this coming November so hope you enjoy it.

Hoy.
