Canadian Shield Stop #3

CANADIAN SHIELD STOP #3 | CANADA OLYMPIC PARK (COP), ALBERTA

Once again Mother Nature was less than kind to The Canadian Shield Slopestyle Tour.

Saturday afternoon at Calgary’s COP saw strong winds increase from 40 to 60 km/h, forcing organizers to postpone the amateur and pro snowboard contest to Sunday morning.

For the Men, it was Ontario native Craig Gouweloos who not only took the win and $5000 he also claimed the Snowboard Canada Magazine Standout Trick award for a Backside 9.

The women’s pro division was a small field of riders that included some strong talent. Coming off a first place finish at the Mt. Seymour stop of The Canadian Shield, Jenna Blasman once again claimed the top spot and $2000, along with the sbcwomen.com Standout Trick award for the Backside 3 in her winning run.

The Goggle Arms Race

Electric left a trailblazing footprint this year at SIA especially when speaking of our 2012/13 Goggle Line.

Transworld Business said “the goggle arms race was taken to the next level as brands introduced an arsenal of new technologies and designs to separate themselves from their foes” and “the 2012/13 Electric line is everything you’d expect from the brand who arguably brought the first oversize goggle, the EG2, to market in 2005.

For our full recap of Electric Events at SIA read: That John Denver’s full of $h#t man

Transworld Business was particularly impressed with our new goggle feature Eye Black stating “one of the coolest new features they’re touting is Eye Black, which reduces glare in riders’ eyes using a similar concept to baseball and NFL players’ using black paint or stickers under their eyes.

2012 On-Snow Demos

2012 ON-SNOW DEMOS || WINTER PARK, CO / STRATTON, VT / ALPINE MEADOWS, Tahoe CA / Mammoth, CA || JANUARY 2012

The past two weeks Electric has hit four different mountains for the 2012 On-Snow Demos. We were demoing our 2012/2013 Goggles and Lenses to all our attending retailers.

Not only were we providing retailers with next years goggles but we were also feeding them with a BBQ each day.

We kicked off the demo season at Winter Park Colorado where we had a handful of retailers hanging out with us most of the day.

Following Winter Park we headed to Stratton Vermont which also had a great turnout with plenty of our East Coast Retailers cruising by the booth to check out what Electric had in store for next season.

While our East Coast team was busy with the Stratton demo our West Coast team was hitting Alpine Meadows in Tahoe, CA which was a jam packed two days filled with retailers from all over Northern California.

The last stop on our demo tour was at Mammoth Mountain, CA where we also had our annual Wave Rave party.

Volcom’s Agent Orange played to a packed store full of stoked retailers and industry peeps. The Wave Rave party was a great ender to another successful year of demos. Thank you to all of our hard working reps and retailers who made these past two weeks more than memorable. See you on the hill!

Dew Tour Championships

DEW TOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS | SNOWBASIN UTAH

Electric’s Devin Logan crushed it this past weekend at the Dew Tour Championships in Utah.

Devin competed in both Women’s Superpipe and Slopestyle. Devin Took home a amazing 1st place in SuperPipe and was the only Women’s who’s score cracked into the 90′s.

Devin also competed in Women’s Slopestyle and took home a very respectful 3rd place finish.

This win secured the Dew Cup for Devin Logan, at 18 she is at the Top of her game and is well awarded with a Victory in Pipe and a bigger victory as the 2012 Women’s Superpipe Dew Cup Champion.

Devin was very close to winning both Dew Cups, but would fall just a tad short with the 3rd, earning herself 2nd place overall.

Electric superstar Torin Yater-Wallace was on hand for Men’s Superpipe and wanted to earn himself a Victory and a Dew Cup.

Torin would take home a 3rd place finish, and finish 2nd in the overall Dew Cup Championships. Congrats to Torin for a great run at the Dew Tour stops in 2012.
