Electric’s Kyle Busch Holds off Johnson for the Win at Michigan | August 21, 2011 | Pure Michigan 400, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Michigan International Speedway

Electric’s Kyle Busch held off a hard charging Jimmy Johnson in the closing laps of Sunday’s Pure Michigan 400 to claim his fourth victory of the year. The driver of the No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing passed Johnson on lap 188 and began pulling away from the five time champion as the laps wound down in what was scheduled to be a 200 lap event. But on lap 198, a caution came out to set up a green, white, checkered finish. As the leader, Busch had the option to pick the inside or outside line for the restart and he positioned his Interstate Batteries Camry on the outside of Johnson’s Chevrolet as the field approached the green flag. When the green flag waved, Busch punched the accelerator and inched ahead of Johnson’s machine as the duo entered turn one. By the time Busch exited turn two, he had cleared Johnson’s machine and it pulled away a .568 of a second margin of victory.

“It feels really good to win here at Michigan,” Busch said. “We’ve been trying so hard the last few times here. Our teammate Denny Hamlin has been able to do it, but unfortunately we haven’t.” “Good to put it in victory lane, especially for everybody at Interstate Batteries.” “Everyone from Toyota, this close to Detroit, they wanted a win here badly.”

The victory was Busch’s first in the Sprint Cup series at Michigan, but the fourth of 2011. This series best, fourth win of the season has helped Kyle Busch clinch a spot in the twelve driver chase for the championship. With 23 of 36 races complete, Busch leads the championship standings and he has 799 points and has a 10 point cushion over 2nd place Johnson. Busch also qualified himself for the Sprint Summer Showdown which gives the race winning drivers from Indianapolis, Pocono, Watkins Glen, Michigan and Bristol the chance for a 3 million dollar prize during the Sprint Cup Race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Should Busch win at Atlanta, he would win 1 million for himself, while the Kyle Busch Foundation as well as one lucky fan would also win 1 million a piece.

The next event on the Sprint Cup schedule is the August 27th Irwin Tools night race at Bristol. Race coverage starts at 4pm PST on ABC.

“Man that’s pretty awesome to win the first Cup race at Kentucky,” said Busch, who also notched his 99th overall win among NASCAR’s top three divisions. “This is right up there with the best of them. I have not won the big ones, so this is as good as it gets right now. I can’t put it into words. The way we ran tonight was awesome.”

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR BUSCH | CROWN ROYAL 400, RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY | APRIL 30, 2011

For the third consecutive year, Electric’s Kyle Busch celebrated his birthday in victory lane at Richmond International Raceway. Busch led four times for a race high 235 laps en route to a dominating win in Saturday night’s Crown Royal 400.

Busch who turns 26 on Monday May 2nd, scored his 21st career Sprint Cup victory, his second of the season and his third at Richmond. Kyle has now won three straight Crown Royal 400s.

After starting 20th, Busch moved his way up through the field from the drop of the green flag. While picking off positions one by one, he reached the top 10 by lap 29, the top five by lap 59, and got up to second by lap 84. Kyle’s pit crew put him into the lead after the first stop of the day on lap 88. After the final pit stop of the day Kyle appeared to have the dominant car but had to save fuel while holding off a hard charging Denny Hamlin to make it to the checkered flag. The car ran out of gas as Kyle did his victory burnout.

Electrics Kyle Busch won Friday night for the second year in a row at Nashville Superspeedway. His performance was very similar to last years where he won for the first time as an qwner/driver. Busch dominated the field by qualifying on Pole and leading 140 of the 150 lap race.

NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES | TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY | APRIL 16TH, 2011

It appeared Kyle Busch‘s day was over. After being involved in a multi-car accident on lap 89 of Saturdays NASCAR Nationwide Series race, Busch’s No. 18 Toyota was a mangled mess, so much so that Kyle was ready to take his car to the garage so his crew could load it up and get a head start home.

Crew chief Jason Radcliff had other ideas. He brought Busch to pit road where his crew team swarmed over it and made enough repairs to get Kyle back out without losing a lap.

After a couple of green, white checkered restarts Kyle was able to take the lead on the last lap with a car that looked like it was only held together with duct tape and end up winning the race.

Kyle has now won at Talladega in all three on NASCAR’s elite divisions and this is Kyle’s 47th Nationwide Series win. He is just three wins shy of breaking the all-time win record.

BUSCH BREAKS OUT THE BROOM AT BRISTOL | BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY, TENNESSEE | MARCH 20TH, 2011

Electric’s Kyle Busch swept the competition this weekend by winning both races at Bristol Motor Speedway. It was his 20th career cup win and his 1st of 2011. This is the second time in a row that Kyle has swept all of the races at Bristol bringing him to 5 consecutive race wins at the half mile oval.

The win also solidified Busch as the current King of Bristol. He has 11 wins in NASCAR’s top three divisions (Sprint Cup – 5, Nationwide – 3, Campimg World Trucks – 3).

“It’s fun and I love coming to Bristol. There is nothing not fun about this place. As soon as i can beat Darrell (Waltrip, 12 Sprint Cup wins at Bristol) for most wins here, they can name it after me. It was awsome to come to Bristol and win in front of these fans. I love it. Especially winning 5 in a row.”

Busch now has 90 wins in NASCAR’s top 3 divisions and moved up to 6th place in the Sprint Cup points standings. Next up is the Auto Club 400 in Fontana CA March 25 – 27th.

NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES | PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY | FEBRUARY 27, 2011

Electric’s Kyle Busch nearly pulled off the trifecta this past weekend in Phoenix winning two out of the three Nascar races.

On Friday night, Busch won the Lucas Oil 150 in his Dollar General Toyota Tundra. After assuming the lead on lap 44 he proceeded to lead the final 107 laps in route to his first Nascar Camping World victory of the 2011 season and the 25th of his career.

On Saturday, he drove his No. 18 Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry to a dominating win. After qualifying on the pole Busch lead all 200 laps of the Basha’s Supermarkets 200. The Electric performance didn’t come easily as Carl Edwards made Busch earn the victory challenging him the last 20 laps that saw the two run side by side all the way to the checkered flag. This was Kyle’s 44th Nascar Nationwide Series win, putting him 4 wins behind record holder Mark Martin.

Sunday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 brought some bad luck for Kyle early in the race after getting caught in an early crash. After many trips to pit road to work on his No. 18 Combo’s Toyota Camry, Kyle was able to work his way back to the lead with 23 laps to go. Kyle was in a battle with Jeff Gordon who nudged his way underneath him as the two came out of turn four with 8 laps remaining. Kyle gave his best effort to regain the lead, but was held off by Gordon earning him a second place finish.

The results of this weekend have put Kyle in the Championship points lead of Nascar’s top three divisions.

Next up: Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 4th – 6th and an Autograph Signing at The Hard Rock Store in Las Vegas on March 4th.

AUG 21ST, 2010 | ELECTRIC’S KYLE BUSCH DOES THE HAT TRICK AND MAKES HISTORY!

Electric’s Kyle Busch scored the elusive hat trick at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway by winning Saturday’s Irwin Tools Night Race NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. The 25 year old swept all three of the NASCAR races at the .533-mile oval, winning the Camping World Truck Series race Wednesday night and the Nationwide Series race Friday night before wheeling his No. 18 Doublemint Toyota to victory in Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race.

“It means a lot,” said Busch after notching his 19th career Sprint Cup victory. “I’m out of breath. I’ve been screaming the whole time. Normally you take your time to get your breath back, but I used it all up. What a great race car.” Kyle went on to thank his crew for their flawless pit stops all night saying, “these guys are awesome.”

Busch led four times for a race high 282 laps in Saturday night’s race, and coupled with his victories in the Nationwide and Truck Series events, the Las Vegas native led 514 of a possible 956 laps throughout the weekend.

“It’s pretty cool because when you come so close and then don’t get it, it’s pretty frustrating,” said Busch, who now has 78 victories across NASCAR’s top three divisions. “I mean, last year we won the truck race and were leading the Nationwide race and we got crashed out, and then we ended up winning the Cup race. So this is probably a year delayed. I’m just real appreciative of what was able to happen tonight. It’s cool to be able to put it all together and win all three races.”

With 24 of 36 races in the books, Kyle bumped up five spots to 3rd place overall with only two races remaining before the Chase.

The Sprint Cup Series takes a rare weekend off before returning to action at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the September 5 Emory Healthcare 500. The race starts at 4:30pm PST on ESPN.
