Volcom’s 2011 WITP Championships

VOLCOM’S 2011 WITP CHAMPIONSHIPS | OCTOBER 15TH, 2011 | AUSTIN SKATE PLAZA, AUSTIN, TX

After 14 Stops all over the U.S. and Canada, Volcom took the Wild In The Parks Championships to Austin, TX this year at the Austin Skate Plaza. This past Saturday brought out the finest collection of amateur skateboarders Austin has ever seen.

The competitors started arriving days before the champs to get a feel of the park, size up their competition and adjust to the Texas heat.

With over 150 competitors you knew it was going to be a long hot day of pure talent. The kids started showing up well before the contest started just to get some practice in and work on their tricks for the day.

The groms in the 14 & Under division kicked it off and really set the bar high for the 15 & Over and Pro-Am divisions to follow them up.

The “OOOHS & AAAHS” from the crowds in all three zones were making each and every competitor take it to the next level. So by the time the sun was setting and the finals were underway the real talent and competitive attitudes were starting to shine.

All the kids were stoked to win the big cash prizes and couldn’t wait for the product toss at the end of the awards. Huge thanks to the city of Austin for letting us take over the Skate Park for the day and to everyone who came out to support and check out the action.

The support we got in Texas was unbelievable and the skate park itself is pretty amazing! Don’t mess with Texas!

Big shout out to Electric’s $1,000 check “Hype of the Day” Winner, Tyler Tutaj, for his Frontside Flip over the 9 stair hubba. Electric would like to give huge high fives to Volcom’s Jeff Arnold, Jared King and Brandon Janssen for making the 2011 WITP Championships a day to remember. This is definitely one for the books!

Electric’s PLG Wins The Dew Tour Championships

PLG WINS THE DEW TOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS | OCTOBER 16, 2011 | LAS VEGAS NV

Pierre-Luc Gagnon (PLG) wins the 2011 Dew Cup for the third time in his Career. PLG the contest machine took the win this past weekend in Las Vegas at the Dew Tour Championships to earn himself another Dew Cup and a mass amount of respect.

PLG is pumped to beat his two nemesis’s Shaun White and Bucky Lasek who both took 2nd & 3rd.

PLG continues to be at the top of his game as the best Vert skater in the WORLD…

Electric Athletes Take Home Gold & Silver At Summer X Games 17

PLG wins the Silver Medal in men’s skateboard Vert finals. PLG coming off Gold’s the last three years at Summer X Games Vert was looking for the big four peat.

PLG had a solid score of a 91 until Shaun White took his last run knocking PLG out of his four peat. PLG’s Silver will be added to his other 16 X Games medals.

Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg takes home the Gold in Moto Best Whip. Twitch, a fan favorite to millions, took home the Text In Vote to win Best Whip.

Twitch had a busy weekend doing 3 events, winning one, and in his last event Speed and Style took a heavy crash and broke multiply bones in both his legs. Electric wants to give a huge speedy recovery to our new found Team member and Family member.

Dew Tour Pantech Open 2011

PLG takes home 2nd place in the first stop of the Dew Tour in Ocean City Maryland. PLG is off to a great start to the year with a respectful 2nd place.

Look for PLG to continue his charge at the next few Dew tour stops as well as going for Gold this week at Summer X Games 2011.

Go Skateboarding Day “Best Trick Contest”

We had an awesome turnout for the contest yesterday! It was the first day of summer and it definitely felt like it with high’s reaching the upper 90′s!

Kids came from all over the Cape Fear region and south-eastern NC to compete on the custom mystery obstacle and the massive kinked rail for $150 from Nike SB and prizes from Electric, DVS, Matix, Analog, and Gravis!

We had burgers and hotdogs fired up on the grill for everyone and thanks to Vitamin Water everyone stayed nice and hydrated in the blazing heat! Big ups to local boy Johnny Delgado taking 1st place with his back lip on the mystery obstacle and smith grinding the kink rail!

Following him up was Permanent Vacation team rider Nick Brown and 3rd place went to Chris Harris both walking with a grip of swag, a lot of sweat, and full bellies! Thanks to everyone especially the fathers who came out for the event!

Permanent Vacation Grand Opening

PERMANENT VACATION GRAND OPENING | WILMINGTON, NC | APRIL 30, 2011

Thank you to everyone for all the support for our shop Permanent Vacation’s Grand Opening! We couldn’t of picked a better day to have it as the weather was a beautiful 80 degree day with no wind nor a cloud in the sky!!!

Nike SB came out to put on the $100 cash prize in the Game of Skate bringing out some of our regions top am’s and pros including Electric skate team rider Scotty Moore, Nike SB’s/Foundation Pro Dan Murphy, and Consolidated’s Brett Abramsky!

Big thanks to Mitch a.k.a. Dr. Jones for spinning that hot sh#t all afternoon along with Electric surf team rider Mark Yonkers calling the shots and counting down the letters on the mic!!

Mad Props to grom Gary Bollis taking home the extra hundy! Thanks to all of our friends/family who came out to support our new endeavor! Also, big thanks to Electric, Nike SB, Analog, Altamont, Gravis, Matix, DVS, Lakai, and ESS for the raffle prizes and helping us make this a day to remember!!!!!
