FEBRUARY 1ST 2010 | ‘WHAT DO YOU MEAN’ | SNAPPER ROCKS, AUSTRALIA
Huh? What do you mean ……. “What Do You Mean?”
Electric’s short film premier, this Saturday!
Electric Visual is proud to announce the premier screening of our recently completed short film “What Do You Mean?” at the height of the world’s biggest inter-club surfing event, the Rhythm Kirra Teams Challenge (www.RhythmKirra.com) taking place on Queensland’s Gold Coast this weekend.
View The Teaser!
“What Do You Mean?” will screen at the Snapper Rocks Surf Life Saving Club from 6pm Saturday night, February 6th and stars Electric team riders Dave Rastovich, Ozzie Wright, Luke Egan, Kyuss ‘the grommet’ King and of course, the charismatic Mr. Matt Hoy.
Described by Electric honchos as an ‘impromptu labour of love about nothing too much in particular’ and inspired by Surfing World magazine’s landmark 300th issue, the 7:30 sec minute film takes its name from one of Hoy’s often repeated catch-phrases: “What Do You Mean?”
As art follows life, Hoy, facing a serious hangover and possible eviction, is forced into a garage sale to raise money in order to pay his rent. Antics ensue and there are at least enough cheesy laughs in this first outing to have audiences begging for more.
Come along to Snapper Rocks Surf Life Saving Club this Saturday and then join the throng at Coolangatta’s NeverLand Bar from 10pm when Ozzie and his fellow Goons of Doom rock it out in support of the Dirty Birds.
A second screening of “What Do You Mean” will take place at Surfing World magazine’s 300th party to be held amidst the madness of the Quiksilver Pro, Monday, March 1st.
Congratulations to Electric’s Luke Egan for coming 10th in Surfing World’s all-time list of Australia’s most iconic and influential surfers.

JANUARY 11TH 2010 | Electric Signs Dusty Payne And Sets Their Sights On The Next 10 Years
January 2010 celebrates the 10 year mark of ELECTRIC in the Action Sports Industry and kicks off the next decade with the signing of renowned surfer Dusty Payne. Dusty just celebrated his 21st birthday with a WCT qualification and also becomes the first surfer ever from Maui to qualify for the WCT. The hype has already started for Dusty to bring a new level of surfing to the tour.
Dusty has appearances in surf films like Modern Collective and Volcom’s BS!, where he was awarded “Performance of the Year” at the 2009 Surfer Poll Awards. He has three major magazine covers in 2009, the runner up to Joel Parkinson in the 2008 Hawaiian Triple Crown of Surfing, and the winner of the $50,000 Kustom Air Strike.
ELECTRIC met up with Dusty in his hometown over the recent holidays and this is what he had to say about the new signing, “I’m pretty sure Hoyo wasn’t about to take no for an answer once the talks started, so lucky for me I loved the product and the all the marketing. I have found my home here, and I’m psyched to be a part of the ELECTRIC family.”
With Dusty joining the ELECTRIC family our team strengthens to be one of the best in the world. Matt Shadbolt aka “Shaddy,” ELECTRIC’s Surf Brand Manager, comments to the new signing, “Dusty has been one of those guys that I have been around and enjoyed watching from his grom days. It does not surprise me one bit that Dusty has landed on the WCT with flying colors. Dusty’s mental toughness is ideal for our program and we are excited to buckle up and enjoy the ride!”
ELECTRIC’s Bruce Beach also comments on Dusty Payne, “Dusty is a perfect fit for ELECTRIC and we are excited to see him rocking the VOLT in the water and our sunglasses on the golf course.” Congrats Dusty on qualifying for the WCT and welcome to the ELECTRIC family!

JANUARY 7TH 2010 | CRAIG ANDERSON JOINS THE ELECTRIC FAMILY
Electric Visual would like to welcome to the team Craig Anderson aka Nando’s. Craig is now one of Australia’s newest free surfing freak sensations to come out of a pond that runs deep with this type of surfing talent. Surfers like Ozzie Wright, Ry Craike, Jay Davies and Dave Rastovich come to mind when you think of the guys who have paved the way for this unique breed of incredibly talented surfers.
Craig is originally from South Africa where he used to compete along side good mate and current ASP world Tour # 11 Jordy Smith. Craig and his family moved to Newcastle when he was 15 and settled in nicely to the Aussie lifestyle.
Craig’s destiny is to be one of today’s and become one of tomorrows best futuristic surfers and go bigger and higher above the lip or deeper in the pit on his free surfing journeys around the globe. Craig is also working hard on his international profile with the help of some of today’s best surf film makers Taylor Steele and Kai Nevell, of whom he is on location presently back in South Africa filming with Jordy and Taylor for an upcoming movie.
Craig’s latest cameo in ‘Modern Collective’ was just a small glimpse of his exceptional talent that will no doubt turn some heads in the near future. Craig ain’t no novelty, this kid is here to stay and lead the way. He rips when it’s small and punchy; he also loves a good thick gnarly pit and will charge whatever comes his way.
His favourite surfer’s are Rob Machado and Electric’s Godfather figure Matt Hoy. “Nandos Chicken is the man! I’m so stoked to have him join the team, Let’s fucken Rock n Roll Nando,” said Hoy.
Craig is over the moon to be associated with the Electric brand and the next few years are going to be one hell of a ride so buckle up and hold on!
