Check out Mark Healey on this months cover of IFSN battling a 75lb Wahoo. Fiji has been good to Mark with fellow friend and Electric supporter Cameron Kirkconnell. Keep it up boys!!!
ELECTRICS DYLAN GRAVES ON THE COVER OF SURFING MAGAZINE | JANUARY 2012
Check out Electric’s Dylan Graves on the February 2012 cover of Surfing Magazine. The Puerto Rican native is one of the world’s best surfers in most every kind of surf. If you have not been to Puerto Rico then this photo may be a good reason to change your yearly surf adventure.
Ryan has been on the tear lately, chasing waves with the Junior Series, Billabong specific trips you name it and he is getting editorial to match. Unfortunately Ryan broke his ankle whilst surfing the World Juniors in Bali recently which means he is out for the Arnette ASP World Junior in Rio, Brazil, but the doctors say he will be back in the water December, so we all wish Ryan a swift recovery.
On top of a great cover, Ryan got some great exposure throughout the magazine in the way of some solid double page spreads, as well as our very own Mitch Crews and Craig Anderson. Keep up the great work lads.
Andrew Doheny Gets 2nd At The Bali Oakley Pro Junior | Oakley Pro Junior | Bali, Indonesia | October 11th, 2011
Andrew Doheny has been an amateur wonder boy and it showed in the first of 3 stops for the World Pro Junior. Yesterday Newport Beach’s local boy stunned the field through every heat only to finish 2nd to Australia’s Davey Cathels and took home a cool $10,000.
The final was strait high performance surfing with both surfers tallying over 17 points out of 20. Congrats Andrew for such a great result and making it fun to watch for everyone.
If you had the chance to spend 90% of your year in the Indian Ocean you would become a good surfer. If your Craig Anderson spending 90% of your year there you will get endless covers and movie parts. Here he is again people. On the cover of this month’s Tracks Magazine!
ESA Eastern Surfing Championship & The Hurley Outer Banks Pro | Sept. 17th – 24th, 2011 | Jenette’s Pier, Nags Head, NC
The 44th Annual ESA Championships scheduled to be held at the Cape Hatteras light house in Buxton, NC had to be moved to Nags Head this year due to 5 new inlets forming south of Oregon Inlet during Hurricane Irene. Irene caused millions of dollars in damage and has been reeking havoc on business owners, fisherman, not to mention leaving the island in shambles! She took out large portions of HWY 12 only allowing residents back on the now several islands by ferry! Luckily for competitors coming form all over the east coast the new location was Jenette’s Pier which recently reopened with a new face lift and has a really good sand bar! Early in the week the surf was in the head high plus range providing exciting competition! Unfortunately the rest of the week was rainy and windy with but stayed in the waist to stomach high range allowing competitive conditions! The Hurley Outer Banks Pro was on one side of the pier starting Friday with the Champs on the other side allowing the amateur competitors to step up their game and give a go in the pros!
14 yr old team rider Daniel Glenn came up from New Smyrna, FL winning the Boys division with a 3 wave total and 12 minutes remaining allowing him to run to the other side and make it through his heat in the pro! Daniel made a few rounds getting knocked right before the money round but was a huge stand out throughout the week!
Backing him up with a solid performance and a 2nd place Menehune result was Newport, NC’s 11 yr. old Stevie Pittman just getting edged out by last years rival Luke Gordon. Great surfing by our entire team and even better performances after NC’s super star Benny B. took home the 10 G’s! When Benny win’s! Everybody wins! Ask the boys for further details!
6th Annual D-Man Festival | Saturday, Sept 10th, 2011 | Sea Side Lagoon, Redondo Beach, CA
This past weekend was the 6th Annual D-Man Festival at Dive N’ Surf at Sea Side Lagoon in Redondo Beach to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The D-Man Festival was created after Dive N’ Surf employee and long time South Bay local surfer Darren “D-Man” Marsee who passed away from Lymphoma in 2005. The day started out with a crazy thunder & lightning show, but then right when the festival started D-Man was looking down on us & brought out the sun!
It was a great day filled of games, paddle boarding lessons in the lagoon & of course music provided by some great bands.
Electric was holding it down spray painting kids & midriff bearing girls with our volt stencils.
We were spray painting hats, mohawks & body parts galore! You could see our presence was covered everywhere on almost everyone! Electric wants to thank all of the people that came out to the event this year, who supported a great cause! We hope to see everyone again next year!
49th Annual ECSC | August 24th-26th, 2011 | Virginia Beach, VA
This past weekend marked the 49th Annual ECSC (East Coast Surfing Championships) in Virginia Beach, VA.
Electric and Volcom teamed up to completely dominate not only the entire event but the town as well. With full gorilla marketing teams in action at all times we basically covered the town in Volts and Pure Fun, which is why we also walked away with the Coastal Edge “Best Booth of the Year” Award.
These kids couldn’t get enough of the action that was pumping from our tents down at vendor village.
Between Electric Jenga, Electric Trucker Hats, Volcom Pure Fun Tees and Totes and so many other prizes to win, makes sense they didn’t want to leave our tents for 2 days.
Guarantee every kid on that beach left with something from us.
Kids were doing just about anything to get a piece of the action. From covering their bodies in Volt stamps, to doing the worm in the sand or even rolling around covering themselves in sand just for a free hat, shirt or even pair of shades. The kids in VA Beach kicked ass!
Electric also threw it’s Annual Orange Crushing It Party at Watermans on Thursday night to give a little Volt love to the 21 and overs. Lets just say we definitely crushed it!
One lucky girl even walked away with a signed Dusty Payne board.
The others probably scored a Dirty South Shirt or Orange Crush Hat and if not they definitely woke up with a killer hangover from Watermans Famous Orange Crush drinks. Thank you Watermans for having us again and letting us throw the best party that ECSC saw all week.
And last but not least HUGE shout out to the entire Electric Crew that came out with their A-Games to completely smash the competition, we killed it!
Electric’s Mitch Crews & Ryan Callinan Place at the 6 Star in Lacanau | August 21, 2011 | Sooruz Lacanau Pro WQS 6 Star, Lacanau, France
This past week Electric’s youngsters Mitch Crews and Ryan Callinan demolished the small surf in Lacanau, France. Both Mitch and Ryan have been highlight Junior competitors in Australia so there is no surprise that both of them did well in this event.
Congrats to Mitch who finished 2nd and Ryan who finished equal 3rd. Both boys picked up valuable WQS points toward the 1 world ranking.
